First time here at tea shop in Monroe, NC. 1st pic is tea sandwiches with a pot of tea for $18 USD. 2nd pic is scones, clotted cream and jam with pot of tea for $18 USD. 3rd pic is cheese board with 3 different cheeses and crackers for $22 USD. Was so crowded we had to go up to second floor. Service excellent, food perfect. Highly recommend!

A happy marriage between southern and European food and tea. Amazing people, really great service. Beautiful atmosphere, adorable gift shop. The food was delicious, the tea was great after I explained how exactly I like my tea, they made it happen. I took 1 star away because I had to put my purse on the floor when I used the bathroom. There's no hook on the door for bags and coats. And the pastry options was very small, only had 2 types of cakes. American style and a bunch of southern treats I didn't care for. I was really hoping for more English/French/Italian pastry and meal options. I tried the macarons. Absolutely delicious, but it's one tiny puny little cookie for what I consider too much for my pocket. The stars were also very delicious, but it was mostly cream inside and fluffy like whip cream, $8 was very steep for a small tart. I know it's for a good cause but because of how high the prices are, I won't be able to be a regular customer. I'll have to treat myself once in a while. Also, i'd take another star off for them not having basic drip coffee for non tea drinkers, but I like the place too much to give it a lower rating overall. I invited my friend to come to breakfast with me and she didn't want to come because she doesn't drink tea. She drinks coffee. Please add a basic drip coffee to your menu. I know it's a lot to deal with finding good beans but it's not an impossible ask because I've seen the gift shop and the loose leaf tea options. So if you can find all those hard to find products, I think you can find a decent vendor for regular drip coffee. They are a non profit organization who helps many people in need so it really is a cause, not just a brunch place, they raise money to help people.

Any day is a great cause for tea! Absolutely LOVED this place. I sat outside on the front porch and had the loveliest brunch ever. - I had a new day and it was so good I drank the entire pot to myself. I also order the deviled egg flight and it was beyond delicious. - I also ordered the chicken pot pie and it was a solid 10/10. Every ingredient tasted so fresh. - yes, I know I ordered a lot but I also ordered the pasta salad and JEZZ was it good. Once again everything tasted so fresh. Once I was done eating I walked in the back where they have the cutest gift shop and bakery. This place is an inspiration to any person wanting to open local business. I will tell all my friends about this place and be back years to come! ⭐

I brought my mom here for her birthday on 4/19/25. We arrived around 10am and were seated immediately. I saw previous reviews about having to stand in line to order, but they are now full service! Our waitress, Lea was amazing and attentive! The tea was delicious, all of our food was amazing and fresh. The baked brie... Lea brought a platter of desserts out to us while we were eating so we could preview without having to get up. She even put a candle on the brownie we got as a personal touch for my mom's birthday! We will definitely be back and will be bringing friends with us!

A Cause For Tea – Monroe, NC What an absolute delight! Our visit to A Cause For Tea was truly magical from start to finish. Our server, Leah, was exceptional—warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. She made our experience feel extra special. We enjoyed the most delicious peaches-and-cream tea, perfectly paired with fresh scones and delicate finger sandwiches. Every bite and sip felt thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere is wonderfully whimsical, filled with timeless treasures that make the entire space feel like a Christmas storybook brought to life. You can sense the heart and purpose behind this teahouse the moment you walk in. The entire staff was incredibly lovely, creating such a welcoming and cozy environment. We loved it so much that we’ve decided to make this one of our yearly traditions. Highly recommend!

This place is absolutely fabulous and charming! I had a chicken pot pie, which is well presented and it was OK, but not what I was expecting and I don’t think I would order it again! But the tea, our waitress for a party of six an atmosphere was just absolutely phenomenal! I’ll definitely be going back!

Located in the heart of Monroe, North Carolina, A Cause for Tea is much more than a charming tea shop—it is a heartfelt nonprofit dedicated to empowering women worldwide through its welcoming atmosphere, carefully crafted menu, and unique shopping experience. This inviting space, nestled at 418 E Franklin St, offers a peaceful retreat where you can savor thoughtful blends of Southern and European culinary traditions alongside expertly brewed teas.

From the moment you step inside, the warmth radiates not only from the staff but from the purpose behind every detail. Their tea service is meticulous—a perfect pot tailored to your taste, whether it's a classic English brew or a creative southern infusion. The fresh, vibrant dishes are a true highlight; I was particularly impressed by the chicken pot pie, praised for its fresh ingredients and comforting flavors, and the deviled egg flight, a delightful array showcasing refined simplicity. The cheese board and tea sandwiches also stand out, blending elegance with homely comfort, making every bite a memorable experience.

A Cause for Tea’s festive, cozy ambiance—with every corner seasonally adorned, especially during the holidays—adds to the sense of community and celebration. The small bakery and gift shop feature delicate macarons and southern-style pastries that pair perfectly with their loose leaf teas, although the selection might leave some longing for a broader European variety. Pricing leans towards premium, reflecting the cause and quality, yet this only enhances the value of your visit as proceeds support impactful programs that uplift women globally.

Service here is impeccable, with friendly, attentive staff who create a genuine connection, making each visit special. While the absence of drip coffee might limit some visitors, the rich tea offerings and the powerful mission behind the venue more than make up for it. Whether you seek a serene afternoon tea or a heartfelt meal with loved ones, this destination promises nourishment for both body and soul.
